Strasbourg is the home to the European parliament and the famous cathedral.
The area of ‘Petit France’ features some of the most intact buildings from this region’s history and is where the river Ill splits making it a picturesque location to wine, dine and explore.
In the central part of the old town, the cathedral dominates much of the landscape. The beautiful gothic architecture sits on the site of a roman temple and was first constructed in 1015 by commission of the King Clovis of the Franks. Much of the original building was destroyed in a fire and work begun to rebuild the cathedral at the end of the twelfth century.
The cathedral is accompanied by a fantastic light show during the summer months which certainly adds to the dramatic atmosphere.
